Negotiation and Mediation

The vast majority of people will choose to settle their differences through negotiation or settlement meetings. That way, the parties have a level of control over the decisions that are made. If the claim is settled then the parties do not have to go to trial. Settlement discussions can be held at any time during the process; as long as both parties agree to do so.

A process by which people in situations of potential conflict attempt to resolve their differences and reach a mutually acceptable agreement. Neutral third parties, or mediators, can often help the parties retain a focus on the problems to be solved and possible solutions, rather than on areas of personal disagreement.
